CHAPTER 13
So thatâs what she looks like, John thought, as he drove home from his visit to Kellyâs Koffee Shop. Glad I had a chance to see her in person, rather than just her picture in the paper from that wedding article. Donât know how it will go down, but somethingâs telling me I need to remember what she looks like.

âOkay, guys,â Kelly said when she got home. âHow are the four of you doing?â The four dogs jumped and whined, clearly glad that Kelly was home.
She let them outside and went into her bedroom to change her clothes.
After the last few days, the house felt empty, and she felt like she needed to do something. This was the first free day sheâd had in several days where nothing had to be done for the wedding or the family, and she felt like she was at loose ends.
She went to the door and let the dogs back in the house. As she stood by the door she looked down at the bay. The late afternoon sunlight skipped across the water and the forest on the other side was just starting to fade into fall. It was a beautiful day to be outside and she decided sheâd take one of the dogs to the dog park.
Kelly knew she couldnât say the word âdog parkâ or Rebel, Lady, and Skyy would go nuts, because that was their favorite place to go. They were all very good on a leash, so she usually took all three of them.
Sheâd never walked Wicked before, and although he seemed to be perfectly trained, she decided she better not risk having four dogs at once. That would probably be too much, particularly since she wasnât quite sure how Wicked would act.
She decided to take just him, and if there was a problem, surely she should be able to handle one dog. And after all, Wicked was a highly trained dog, so there shouldnât be a problem.
Kelly and Mike had wire dog crates in the garage which they used from time to time for their dogs. She decided to put her dogs in their kennels and take Wicked out through the front door. It would probably be better if her dogs didnât see her leaving with just him.
After she had Rebel, Lady, and Skyy secured in their dog crates, she clicked the leash onto Wickedâs collar and walked him to her car. It was the first time heâd been in it, and having been in a war zone for several years, heâd been trained to sniff everything out, which he did before heâd get in the car.
Finally, satisfied no bombs or dangers were in the car, he sat in the back seat looking out the window. Kelly remembered that Cash had mentioned several times that Wicked loved to go to the dog park, so she decided to take him to the one that was only a few blocks from their home.
Kelly glanced at the clock on the dashboard and saw that it was 4:00.
